AI writers have exploded with new users who seek writing assistance, whether that be by writing short copy or even long-form content.
There are many AI writer options out there; so, it can be hard to know which one is best for you. In this review, we will be looking at Writesonic, which is one of the more popular AI writers out there.
Writesonic is also one of the more comprehensive tools available, providing a variety of writing features as well as image creation and even a ChatGPT-like feature.
To help you in your writing journey, we decided to write this comprehensive review on Writesonic and whether it is worth it or not.
Features
Believe it or not, Writesonic has an impressive list of over 80 different writing features.
Notable Features
ChatSonic—If you know much about ChatGPT, then you know that it is a sophisticated AI chatbot that has garnered a lot of attention lately. Well, Writesonic didn’t want to be left out and created their own chat box called, “ChatSonic.”
It functions similarly to ChatGPT but also has the capability to produce AI-generated images and voice searches. You can also change the AI’s personality to a variety of professions, such as a philosopher or interviewer.
Photosonic—Though not specifically a writing feature, Photosonic is an image generator which can be great for writers who want to include unique images in their writings. Users can simply type in a detailed description of what they want the AI to generate, and it will create an image in seconds.
Make Your Own AI—AI often learn through experience. So, Writesonic has introduced a feature that lets you train the AI to write in the way that you want it to write.
AI Article Writer 4.0 and 3.0—Writesonic AI Article Writer has two versions: 4.0 and 3.0. The 4.0 version is able to write 3,000-word articles that are SEO-friendly. The 3.0 version sticks to articles that are around 1,500 words.
Paragraph Writer—AI thrives with short-form content which is why its Paragraph Writer feature is one of the best. You can generate paragraphs one by one and even make an article out of them.
AI Article Ideas—Coming up with new article ideas can be difficult, but with the AI Article Ideas tool, you can generate an unlimited number of ideas in seconds.
AI Article Outlines—This tool is great for solving writer’s block. It can be difficult to know what to write, but the AI Article Outlines tool can solve that problem by providing multiple possible outlines for the article.
Google and Facebook Ads—Writesonic has two separate ad-writing tools: one for Google ads and the other for Facebook ads. Once you input the product name, description, and any special occasions or promotions that are going on, Writesonic can generate multiple ad copies for you to choose from.
Cold Emails—This feature will generate cold emails that you can use, test, and tweak to make them better and better.
Content Rephrase—The Content Rephrase will rephrase content in a different voice and style. This can be especially great if you have written or used Writesonic to write an article only to realize that the voice and/or style isn’t exactly what you were looking for.
Passive to Active Voice—One of the problems that many writers face is writing in passive voice. This feature can save you a lot of time by converting instances of passive voice into active voice.
Product Descriptions—Writing product descriptions can be tedious work which is why the Product Descriptions feature can be a huge help and save a lot of time.
Twitter Threads—This is a unique feature that will write a series of tweets that are designed to grab and hold the attention of potential readers.
Landing Pages—This feature is designed to create “high-converting” landing page copy. This is a great tool to, at the least, provide a variety of copy ideas.
Text Summary—The Text Summary feature will shorten a piece of text while still retaining the main ideas.

Pros and Cons
Writesonic does have its pros and cons including:
Pros
- User Interface—The user interface is easy to navigate and self-explanatory which makes it a great option for beginners.
- Informational Resources—Writesonic has a large bank of resources that contains information on what it is and how it works; plus, there are in-depth guides on all the features.
- Plenty of Features—It’s safe to say that Writesonic contains more features than most other AI writers out there which can make it the perfect choice for those needing it for a variety of purposes.
- Integrations—Writesonic has WordPress, Zapier, and Surfer SEO integrations available that can help streamline the writing process.
Cons
- Free Trial—While a free trial is always appreciated, Writesonic only offers 2,500 premium-generated words for free. Needless to say, 2,500 won’t go very far and will limit your ability to test most of the features.
- Word Quality—Unfortunately, Writesonic has a word quality setting with four choices: Premium, Good, Average, and Economy. The lower the word quality, the more words you get. For example, 2,500 premium words equal 25,000 economy words. The problem with this is that the average user would prefer premium content over subpar content, but Writesonic charges a “premium” on such content.
- Inaccurate Content—All AI writers suffer from producing inaccurate content especially when it comes to long-form pieces. While Writesonic does offer a 3,000-word article generator feature, it doesn’t offer much in the realm of fact-checking.
How does Writesonic work?
Once you create an account, you will be directed to the “Library,” which hosts all of Writesonic’s features.
After choosing a feature you will be directed to a different page where you can generate content. The Paragraph Writer page, for example, has various inputs on the left that the AI will use to generate content which will appear on the right.
Once the content has been generated, you can choose to edit, regenerate, delete, bookmark, and even rate it. By rating the content, the AI will learn what you like and what you don’t and will be able to generate better content for you in the future.
Pricing
Writesonic has three plans:
- Free Trial—The Free Trial Plan gives you a taste of what Writesonic has to offer with access to most of the features and the equivalent of 2,500 words of premium-generated content.
- Long-Form—The Long-Form plan ranges from $19 a month with 19,000 premium words to $999 a month with 2,000,000 premium words. Plus, it comes with other benefits like priority support.
- Custom Plan—The Custom Plan is meant for larger businesses and can be customized according to your needs.
Along with a monthly subscription option, all paid plans also have an annual option which reduces the monthly payments by 33%.
Languages
Writesonic has a total of 25 languages that the AI can generate content in; however, there are some features that only generate content in English. Here is the complete list of language options:
- English
- Dutch
- French
- German
- Italian
- Polish
- Spanish
- Portuguese
- Portuguese (Brazilian)
- Russian
- Japanese
- Chinese
- Bulgarian

Final Thoughts
Writesonic is one of the more comprehensive AI writers out there with a plethora of features and an in-depth guide on each one. It is a great choice for those looking to get a lot of different types of work done from blogs to copy.
Its ChatSonic and Photosonic features are especially notable as many AI writers lack them. While the word quality setting can drastically increase the cost per word, it should be noted that even on the premium setting, Writesonic is relatively affordable when compared to other high-end AI writers.
All in all, Writesonic is great for those wanting an in-depth look at what AI writers can do and plan to use a variety of features. However, for those just looking for a couple of features, then there are less expensive options out there.

English bloke in Bangkok. First used GPT-3 in 2020 and has generated millions of words with it since. Not really much of an achievement but at least it demonstrates a smidgen of authority. Studies natural language processing, Python and Thai in his spare time.
