Rytr review: a budget option that can punch with the heavyweights

With all the AI writers out there, it can be hard to know which one is best for you. AI writers are great for writing quick content or simply helping with writer’s block.

Whatever it is, AI can, at the least, function as an assistant helping you on your writing journey. The only problem is that there are so many AI writers out there with different features, subscription prices, and levels of fame.

Rytr, for example, is a lesser-known tool but still has many of the features of top AI writers at a lower price point.

By inserting a keyword or prompt, Rytr will generate blog ideas as well as a possible outline. This feature cures writer’s block in seconds and will get you back along your writing journey.

This feature will write sections of a blog based on a topic and some prompts. A pro tip is to use the headers of the outline generated from the previous feature as the topic. Then, you can quickly generate a blog post. 

Copywriting

Rytr is in its prime when writing short-form content. It can write call to actions as well as copy in the AIDA (Attention-Interest-Desire-Action) and PAS (Pain-Agitate-Solve) format.

Pros and Cons

As with any AI writer, Rytr does have its pros and cons:

Pros

• Simple user interface—Rytr has a very simple user interface which makes it easy to get started right away. Instead of having to jump from page to page to use a certain feature, Rytr simply has one page that does it all.
• Plenty of features—There are plenty of features that will accommodate just about any writer, marketer, or even YouTuber. Whatever type of content you need, Rytr will likely have a feature just for it.
• Free plan—Unlike many other AI writers, Rytr has a free plan available which makes it a great starting option. If you find that you like Rytr, then you can always upgrade to a paid plan.
• Original content—Rytr produces 100% plagiarism-free content. So, there’s no need to worry about the content that it produces.

Cons

• Not ideal for full-length article writing—Rytr isn’t the best at producing long-form content. However, to be fair, other AI writers often suffer from the same problem.
• Likes to make up facts—Unfortunately, AI writers are notorious for making up facts and Rytr is no different. So, you’ll want to thoroughly fact-check its work.
• Limited free plan—The free plan is a nice bonus, but it is not sufficient for full-time writing. It limits the number of words you can generate a month; so, if you want to use Rytr full-time, then you’ll have to upgrade to a paid plan.
• Subpar content—As with most AI writers, the longer the generated text, the vaguer and more repetitive it gets. So, when it comes to larger text, the content isn’t the best.

How does Rytr work?

Rytr has a pretty intuitive and simple layout. The control panel is on the right which allows you to choose a language, tone, and the type of writing feature you want to use.

Once you choose a feature, it will provide a short description of what the feature does as well as one or two input boxes where you enter relevant details that Rytr will then use to generate the desired content.

Once the content has been generated, you can select different portions of it. Once you do so, you’ll see a toolbar appear that has six to seven different options:

1. Command—Allows you to input a command to generate a custom text.
2. Improve—Improves the readability of the text and corrects any grammar mistakes.
3. Rephrase—Rephrases the text.
4. Paragraph—Generates a paragraph using the highlighted text as a prompt.
5. AI Image—Adds an AI-generated image.
6. Continue Ryting—Writes more sentences off of the highlighted text.
7. More—Expands, shortens, or adds a few words at the end of the highlighted text.

Lastly, at the top of the document, you’ll notice a separate toolbar that functions similarly to a Google Doc or MS Word toolbar.

Pricing

Rytr has two paid plans that are relatively affordable when compared to other AI writers out there. 

At $29 a month, the Unlimited plan gives you full access to Rytr and allows you to generate an unlimited amount of text. Plus, you’ll get priority assistance and management services from Rytr.

On the other hand, at $9 a month, the Saver plan allows you to generate a limited number of characters and only 20 AI images. 

For either plan, you can save money by buying a yearly subscription instead of a monthly subscription.

Free Trial

Rytr’s free trial doesn’t go away after a certain amount of time. Instead, it simply limits the amount of content you can generate in a month by giving you a certain number of credits.

At the end of each month, your credits are reset. As of now, Rytr is offering 10,000 credits a month for its free plan.

While 10,000 credits may seem like a lot, a credit represents an individual character. For context, this paragraph has around 150 characters in it.

So, the free plan will allow you to get acquainted with Ryter but will not be enough to generate more than two to three articles’ worth of content.

Final Thoughts

While Rytr is a lesser-known AI writer, it still has many of the features that top AI writers have but at half the price. Even Rytr’s Unlimited plan is surprisingly affordable when compared to other AI writers on the market.

It is an especially great option for those looking for short-form content or a tool to solve writer’s block. However, if you are looking to generate long-form content, then it is best to look elsewhere.
