Hypotenuse AI review: the most factually accurate AI writing tool

In our ongoing quest to find the best AI writer, we’ve reviewed Copymatic, WordHero, Jasper.ai, Rytr, copy.ai, Writesonic, and some of the most used AI text detection tools. Today, we’re taking a look at Hypotenuse AI.

Hypotenuse AI is a little different from the other websites we’ve reviewed so far. This is because instead of being totally reliant on an existing AI program, Hypotenuse AI’s developers have incorporated their own technology to make sure the content produced is factually correct.

Factual correctness is one of many areas that AI writers struggle with. This is because AI writers rely on being fed information to build up their language capabilities. This information quickly becomes out of date, especially since it takes years to develop very complex programs.

Because of AI’s problems with being factually correct, what Hypotenuse AI claims to offer is a real game changer in the AI text generation space.

We tested out Hypotenuse AI’s factual correctness, AI text generation tools, and other features and are happy to say that we think Hypotenuse AI is the real deal, but it could be improved.

Hypotenuse AI’s text generation tools impressed us, especially its product description tool, which we think could be extremely useful for entrepreneurs and small business owners’ websites. The blog post tool is also very easy to use, but also comprehensive enough to give you a strong blog post.

Where we think Hypotenuse AI can improve is with its factual correctness features and the number of tools it offers. We also think Hypotenuse AI is a little expensive if you plan on using one plan for a team of writers.

Features

Unlike many of its competitors, Hypotenuse AI’s developers prefer quality over quantity when it comes to their tools. Some AI writing programs, like Copy.ai, boast over 100+ tools. Hypotenuse AI offers just 21 tools.

Hypotenuse AI pros and cons

Here are some of our favorite and least favorite things about Hypotenuse AI that stood out during our review process.

Pros

The Product Description tool is great for entrepreneurs and online businesses

Hypotenuse AI’s Product Description tool might be the best tool we’ve seen so far for online entrepreneurs. With just a picture and a few prompts, Hypotenuse AI creates an expertly written product description.

Product lists can be imported and product descriptions can be created in bulk making for a quick and easy process. It’s also easy to organize your products since you’re able to create different catalogs of products.

The Blog Post writing tool is very easy to use

Our favorite thing about Hypotenuse AI’s blog post writing tool is that it strikes a good balance between being comprehensive and also being easy to use.

Some of the most comprehensive AI longform writing tools are tedious to use. On the other hand, some of the more simplistic tools make it hard to get exactly what you want from the tool because you are limited by the amount of prompts available to you.

Hypotenuse AI strikes a good balance between those two extremes. Its blog post tool is a three step process, but the first two steps can be bypassed if you already have a title and outline written up for your blog.

Once you go through the first two steps, with just a click of a button, you will have a fully fleshed out blog post. For us, this process is a little longer than some others, but the fact you can skip steps or perform them manually, is a great improvement over some of the competitors who make you tediously plod through each step.

Cons

Not a cheap option for teams of writers

One thing we noticed looking at Hypotenuse AI’s different subscription plans is that they all are limited to just one user. The only one that allows for teams of writers to use one subscription is the Enterprise plan, which requires a consultation with Hypotenuse AI and a custom pricing plan.

We have to assume that the Enterprise plan will be even more expensive than the $1,080 per year Growth plan. Most AI writing assistants will allow more than one user to use one account.

Because Hypotenuse AI doesn’t even have one basic plan offering this, we have to mark them down a little in our ratings.

Not as factual as it claims to be, but still better than the rest

As we discussed in the intro, Hypotenuse AI’s claim to fame in the world of text generation is that its developers have incorporated their own technology to make their AI-generated content more factually correct.

Hypotenuse AI definitely produces more factually correct information than its competition, but it’s not as factually correct as we think it is marketed as.

When testing its factual accuracy, we used Hypotenuse AI’s “Ask AI anything” tool to tell us about the current US president, including where he was born and when he became president. Hypotenuse AI passed with flying colors and told us all about the current president, Joe Biden.

Unfortunately, Hypotenuse AI couldn’t replicate this success with their longform Blog Post tool. We gave it a similar prompt and asked it to write about the current US president and some of his most important policy positions.

What Hypotenuse AI gave us was a blog post that never mentioned Joe Biden by name and wrote about the major policy achievements of the Obama and Trump administrations.

Hypotenuse AI never mentioned Obama or Trump by name either. It seemed to be pretty confused about who the president was. One paragraph started with “You passed tax reform” referring to the humble writer of this article as the current US president.

We think Hypotenuse AI still has some room to grow before it can truly claim to be the factually correct AI writing assistant.

How does Hypotenuse AI work?

Like all the other AI writing tools we’ve reviewed, Hypotenuse AI uses OpenAI’s Generative Pre-Trained Transformer 3 (GPT-3) program. GPT-3 is also the program powering the popular ChatGPT chatbot.

GPT-3 was created by OpenAI, which is an AI company founded by a group of Silicon Valley investors, including Twitter C.E.O. Elon Musk, in 2015. OpenAI’s GPT-3 AI text generation model is the most advanced on the market.

Hypotenuse AI also uses their own exclusive technology aimed at improving the factual accuracy of GPT-3. As we discussed in the pros and cons section, this technology definitely works, but it could be improved upon.

Pricing

Hypotenuse AI’s pricing plan is a little more complicated than a lot of the other AI writing assistants we’ve looked at. Hypotenuse AI offers three plans; the Starter plan, Growth plan, and Enterprise plan.

Hypotenuse AI’s pricing

Each plan comes with a different price and different features. The latter two plans also offer different prices depending on how much you plan on writing. In comparison to other AI writing tools, we think Hypotenuse AI’s prices are fair and very much in-line with what middle-tiered AI programs cost.

To purchase the Enterprise plan, you need to request a consultation with the Hypotenuse AI team, so we can’t give you concrete information about how much that plan costs.

Each plan also offers monthly and annual subscriptions. Annual subscriptions break down to being cheaper per month, but they obviously require a bigger upfront investment. See the full price breakdown below.

PlanWords per monthMonthly plan pricingAnnual plan pricing (monthly breakdown)
Starter (100 credits)25,000$29 per month$288 ($24 per month)
Growth (350 credits)87,500$59 per month$588 ($49 per month)

Final thoughts

Hypotenuse AI’s superior factual accuracy, great product description tool, and easy-to-use blog post generator makes it a great choice of AI writing tool. Online entrepreneurs and small business owners looking to advertise their products online will get the most out of Hypotenuse AI, but their blog post tool also makes it a good choice for copywriters too.

The only major drawbacks of Hypotenuse AI is that it’s not a great choice for teams of writers, given that its three cheapest plans can only be used by one user, and that its factual correctness might be slightly overrated.

Hypotenuse AI review: final thoughts

Hypotenuse AI is a phenomenal tool for online sellers and a strong choice for copywriters. Their factual correctness technology represents the cutting edge of AI technology, but it’s not perfect yet.
