Copymatic review: the best AI writing tool?

Not one of the more well-known contenders in the AI writing space, but nonetheless a solid choice, Copymatic is my personal choice because it was one of the only options that offered an unlimited plan at the time I signed up.

Unfortunately it seems that its unlimited plan has been sunsetted now that the product has gained momentum, but let’s give it a fair review based on its current features and pricing.

Features

Currently, Copymatic offers a staggering 81 tools available to paid customers. As one would expect from such a huge number, the types of tools vary greatly.

Tools like the “Article Generator” will write entire longform articles from just a few prompts. Other tools, like the “Tweet Generator” help social media creatives come up with engaging content under 280 characters. 

There are also tools that can edit and summarize stuff you wrote yourself. These tools are especially useful for freelance writers, new writers, or small business owners who do not have the benefit of a human editor to look over their work.

Cons

Copymatic doesn’t offer any unlimited plans

Many AI writing assistant programs entered the market offering completely unlimited text generation for one flat rate. They then changed to subscription plans, which we’ll explain in greater detail when we discuss Copymatic’s prices, that charge users for the number of words they write.

Copymatic is unfortunately one of the companies who followed this trend. If you’re expecting to write an extreme amount of text, Copymatic might get a little expensive compared to other companies, like WordHero, which offer unlimited text generation.

While we list this as a con for Copymatic, this con should by no means be a dealbreaker for the vast majority of writers. We included it here because it’s something some writers should consider before signing up for an expensive subscription plan.

How does Copymatic work?

Using Copymatic means you are using the best of the best. Copymatic’s text generation services use OpenAI’s Generative Pre-Trained Transformer 3 (GPT-3). 

OpenAI is an artificial intelligence company founded by Silicon Valley investors, including Twitter C.E.O. Elon Musk, in 2015. Their GPT-3 AI text generation model is the most advanced on the market to date.

OpenAI is the most high profile and cutting edge AI company on the planet. They are partnered with Microsoft and currently working on their next text generation model, GPT-4, which will be incorporated into Copymatic whenever possible.

Pricing

Copymatic is a subscription service. You pay for how many words you expect to write using Copymatic’s AI services.

You can pay either per month or for a yearly subscription up front. Yearly subscriptions will be at a discounted rate compared to paying for 12 months through a monthly subscription plan.

Copymatic is a brilliant tool for writers, small business owners, and everyday people. The sheer quantity of tools available and the variety of tools offered means that virtually everyone will be able to get some use out of Copymatic. 

Because Copymatic uses OpenAI’s GPT-3 text generation model, users can be sure they are using the best AI text generator available to the public from a reliable and reputable company. 

Copymatic isn’t as well known as Jasper but it’s cheaper and built on the same technology, so all in all it’s very good value for money. It’s actually the first choice of our chief editor.
